We use the data for CO2 emissions submitted by member economies. For economies that have no data for CO2 emissions, the secretariat uses Tier 1 methodology to estimate CO2 emissions from fuel combustion based on the 2006 IPCC guidlines.
Below are specific notes given by member economies.
Australia
Total CO2 emissions of Transformation Sector include other transformation sectors, such as petroleum refining, manufacture of solid fuels and other industries.
Canada
The CO2 emissions from the Crude Oil and Petroleum Products in Primary Energy Supply show the emissions from oil field.
Hong Kong, China
The CO2 emissions from public utilities include Own Use & Loss.
New Zealand
Total CO2 emissions consist of both the emissions from fuel combustion and the fugitive emissions from the energy sector.
Peru
The CO2 emissions from Crude Oil and Petroleum Products, and Gas show the emissions from oil field and gas field.
Chinese Taipei
Industry Sector includes the energy sector. Residential & Commercial consists of residential, commercial and other sector. Other includes agriculture sector and non-energy use.
Thailand
Other Sector includes agriculture, construction and mining.
United States of America
The CO2 emissions from public utilities are located in the industry sector in the final consumption sector.
According to the IPCC guildines, CO2 emissions can be calculated from energy balances. The left table below shows the sectors that are taken into account in the estimation. The other table shows Carbon emission factors.
